School policy
Developing a school policy to make education more suitable for cognitively high-functioning students takes time and requires knowledge, experience, and new insights. How can we effectively integrate education for these students into student guidance policies?
Identifying giftedness
It is important for schools to identify which children are cognitively gifted in order to prevent problems caused by a mismatch between educational needs and educational provision. Identification usually occurs through an initial preventive screening followed by more extensive identification.
Compacting and enrichment
Enrichment entails providing cognitively high-functioning students with additional content beyond the standard curriculum to offer them increased challenge. This is always coupled with compacting, which involves eliminating redundant exercises to focus solely on essential material.
Motivation and underachievement
Some cognitively gifted individuals struggle to attain results in school or work that align with their abilities or potential. Motivation is thus a key factor in the underachievement of gifted children, adolescents, and adults.
Coaching and guidance
When guiding gifted individuals, there are several focal points that may arise, making coaching different from that of normally gifted individuals. In these modules, you'll learn to utilize coaching techniques or materials specifically tailored to giftedness.
