Our smartest and most creative children and adults are often misdiagnosed with behavioral and emotional disorders such as ADHD, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder, OCD, or Asperger’s. As a result, many receive unnecessary medication and inappropriate support.

Doctors, psychologists, and caregivers are often unaware of the traits of gifted children and adults that overlap with pathological diagnoses.

Six nationally recognized healthcare professionals outline ways for parents and professionals to distinguish gifted behaviours from pathological ones.
