"Being (highly) gifted should not be an item. A school that focuses on talent development gives all children maximum opportunities. An involved teacher does not teach for 'the average child,' but pays attention to a young person with learning difficulties as well as sensing the hunger for learning or out-of-the-box thinking of a cognitively strong child. The main question remains: what gives these children and young people wings?"

As a care coordinator for 7th to 12th grade for the past 25 years, I looked through learning or developmental disabilities to the talents and needs of young people. I specialized in dyslexia, dyscalculia, AD(H), ASD, DCD, and RVL as well as in fear of failure, HSP, and socio-emotional problems, and I acted as a bridge builder between the student, parents, teachers, and the day-to-day classroom. From my pedagogical background, action-oriented work on an intellectual, emotional, social, didactic, and pedagogical level is central here: what does this child need to feel good and develop his/her talents to the maximum?

Easy learning is not always a guarantee of future success. Sometimes children in elementary school learn too little self-regulation and learning skills, and then the transition to secondary school is much more difficult than expected. Sometimes such students do not struggle until the 11th grade and still others do until they take higher studies. Perfectionism, fear of failure ... and puberty also cause a lot of insecurity and doubt.

My hunger for learning brought me to Sabine Sypré and Hoogbloeier®. Here I found the missing pieces in my puzzle and those of many people and children around me and I got totally into the flow of my new challenge:

Starting from the gifts and strengths of the gifted or highly gifted person and his environment, I work on the self-image, well-being, a positive development process of these children and adolescents, of their family or school, and on the unfolding of the talents present. At the child's pace ... a little every day ... MOre.

I have my practice in Buggenhout and also work in Zemst.
