I’m Joke Verwerft, the person behind Groei-Zin. I originally trained as a primary school teacher and have been working for several years now as a learning support teacher and care coordinator. Throughout my time in education, I encountered many cognitively strong students—it seemed I had a natural eye for it. Still, I didn’t always know the right approach, and not everyone around me saw what I saw.

It wasn’t until suspicions about my own children arose—and were later confirmed—that my real journey began. A journey in search of more knowledge and background about giftedness, and practical tools to better support my children. During that journey, pieces of the puzzle also fell into place for me personally, and I discovered and acknowledged that I am gifted myself.

The search for the right support for my children made it clear how limited the available options were. That inspired me to follow the advanced and expert training at the Hoogbloeier® Gifted Academy.

Combining my experience in education, my personal perspective as a gifted mother of two gifted children, and my professional knowledge as a giftedness expert—along with the tools from my training as a Youth Brain Coach—gives me a strong foundation to guide gifted individuals and their environment.
